Preliminary Task - MES

In the video 'The A Team' the main female character was portrayed as a homeless, druggy type character; we got this impression from now only the video opening with her having an overdose and waking up on a bench, but also the clothing.

The only equipment necessary to film this piece was a tripod and a camera.

The female character has ripped tights and various layers of clothing. This suggests she lives on the streets as she needs various layers to keep her warm during the night. Also, her make up and hair is not immaculate; if anything it is rather messy and tatty.
As a group we tried to imitate this image by replicating all the physical features that we could.

I wore black shorts and tights to try and replicate the character's outfit. I believe this was a close match, although if I were to re-film this opening sequence, I would ensure my tights were fish net and that holes in them, which mine didn't.

My grey jumper is very similar to the one the protagonist had on. In the video she also wears a black coat; we did manage to get a black coat in the same style, but when we arrived at our filming location we realised that we had forgotten the coat and therefore it is not in the video. This is a very careless and is a mistake that will definitely be corrected when filming the main task. There is no room for petty errors.

The remaining characteristics such as the hair and makeup were very run down and rather messy. I couldn't quite imitate this exactly but we kept the make up very simple and the hair was styled the same; the only problem is that my hair doesn't look dirty like the female. If we were to re-film we'd ensure my hair was wet so that it gave a dirty appearance.

Other MES such as the quilt/blanket was important as we had to make sure the audience realised that she was homeless and sleeping on the streets. Therefore I believe we did well in assuring the setting and positioning of blanket resembled the scene in the official music video.
