Contacting the artist - Copyright

Due to Copyright on most of the songs that we are looking into using, I had to contact various artists with an enquiry. After deciding we want to base our main task on the genre pop/alternative, I emailed various of the artist's managers and production companies to ask for permission to use their product (song) in our video; I explained that it was for educational purposes and not profitable in any way.
